What happened in Karachi today is no surprise. The MNAs and MPAs here were not elected by the people — they were imposed by the military through stolen elections and fake Form-47s. This is how the army keeps control of the city, even over cantonment boards and DHA, where they pocket money meant for municipial services, perhaps the only army in the world that wants responsibilities of sewerage and gutters. Paisa bolta hai jee.
The mayor’s seat was also stolen. Murtaza Wahab only became mayor after his main opponent, a woman contesting on a PTI ticket, was abducted with her son and forced to withdraw. That is how he won unopposed. And today Karachi suffers under his rule: a city drowning in garbage, traffic, and rainwater.
The most shameless role belongs to MQM-Pakistan. Once claiming to fight for Karachi, its leaders now survive only on rigged victories. They do nothing but serve their masters while the people suffer. They know the people dont matter shit, just polish boots of army officers and you will be given power in this province.
And the people do suffer. Children fall into open manholes. Women are trapped for hours in traffic. Families live with dirty water inside their homes. Ordinary mothers and sisters get no respect — only the powerful daughters of dynasties are protected. Respect is only for Asifa Bhutto and Maryam Nawaz, yhe mothers sisters and daughters of Karachi can fall in gutters or the oceans, nobody cares.
Those in power know they don’t need votes. They just need to obey the boots, and in return they get power. For Karachi’s people, it means betrayal again and again.
The real question is: how long will Karachi keep suffering like this?
Only until Karachi’s mandate is not stolen. These problems can only be solved by people who are accountable to Karachi’s public, not daala driving PPP/MQM badmaash.
